Photos: Menu images you capture or upload for scanning, including any metadata embedded in the image file by your device (EXIF data, which may include precise GPS coordinates, timestamp, and device model)
Location data: To identify nearby restaurants (with your permission)
Device information: Device type, operating system, and app version
Usage data: How you interact with the App

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

Provide and improve our menu scanning service
Generate AI-powered dish images and translations
Identify restaurants based on your location
Maintain your scan history
Improve the App's functionality and user experience

When you scan a menu, your photo and location are transmitted together to Google's Gemini API to identify the restaurant and analyze the menu content.

4. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. Your data is stored securely and we use encryption for data transmission. Menu images are processed for analysis and stored on our servers.

Data Retention:

Menu photos: Retained indefinitely, or until you delete your account
Location data: Retained indefinitely, or until you delete your account
Scan history: Retained indefinitely, or until you delete your account
Account deletion: Upon deletion of your account, your personal data is removed from our servers within 30 days. Note that data already transmitted to third-party providers (e.g., Google) may be subject to their own retention policies

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, which may receive your data:

Google Gemini API — AI and LLM processing of menu photos and location data. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Google AI Terms of Service
Cloud storage and infrastructure providers — Secure storage of your data
Analytics and crash reporting services — App performance monitoring

These services have their own privacy policies and we ensure they meet appropriate data protection standards.

When you use the App, your data — including photos and their embedded metadata — is transmitted to Google's Gemini API, which may store and process data in the United States or other countries. Such countries may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. By using the App, you acknowledge and consent to this cross-border transfer of your data.

6. Third-Party Content in Photos

Please do not photograph or upload images that contain identifiable individuals or sensitive personal information belonging to third parties. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content you submit. Hahatone is not responsible for any personal data of third parties contained in photos you upload, and we cannot guarantee that such data will not be transmitted to third-party processing services as part of your scan request.

Access your personal data
Request deletion of your data
Opt out of location tracking
Export your scan history

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
